The state election has now been announced – it is to be held on 15 March
On March 15, Tasmanians will be making make a big decision about the future of our community.
We have a clear choice - do we continue towards a stronger future for all Tasmanians and build on a strengthening and diversified economy, or do we let a negative opposition take us backwards, sacking workers and cutting crucial services to the community?
I’m proud of what we have been able to achieve as a community through challenging times. Many Tasmanians have done it tough, and I have always worked hard to make a difference – to listen, to care and to get things done to make people’s lives better.
That’s why I fought hard to deliver decent protections for firefighters when they put their lives on the line for us and that’s why I fought to give workers equal long service leave entitlements. I have fought every day to give workers, the community and local business a voice inside parliament and government.
But this is all at risk if the Liberals deceive and trick their way into government. They are a party that has promised to sack Tasmanians, cut workers’ protections, stop investing in our growing industries and take us back to the wars of old.
This election is about our future, and I firmly believe Tasmania’s future looks brightest underpinned by labor values – sticking up for people who need it most.
In 2010 Tasmanians elected a 10-10-5 parliament. Someone had to be the grown-up and someone had to form government. But now is the time for the Labor voice to be heard. Tasmanians will understand that at this election, a vote for Labor is a vote for Labor.
With your support I can keep making a difference – shoot me an email anytime you’ve got a great idea or have a question, join the team or spread the word around the people that trust you.
I believe that together we can deliver a stronger future and I promise to continue to listen, to care and to get things done to make people’s lives better.
